Close-up: Show us your furriend's beautiful features. However make sure not to cut things out from the frame.
Eye-level: Get to the eye level with your furriend.
Forward facing: Make sure your furiend's neck is visible and the upper torso directly faces the camera.
Good lighting: Take your photo outdoor if possible. Outdoor natural daylight always results in the best photos.
Clear photos: Avoid blurry, out-of-focus photos or photos with heavy filtering. Photos that have clear fur texture will add more depth and details to the illustration.
Accessories: Accessories will be included in the final portrait. In some cases, we can remove small objects, e.g. collars, leashes and tags (please put a note in the note box at checkout), but to avoid any surprises, it's best to use a photo that looks exactly how you want them to look in the final portrait.
Let's use Billy's cute photos as examples.
Facing camera
Well-lit
Visible face and neck
Clear fur texture
Angled camera position (showing the back of the body)
Not at eye level
Ear is cut off
Fur texture is not clear
Neck and torso is not visible
Billy is lying down
Poor lighting (Billy is in shadow and his fur is discolored)
Whether you are not sure if the photo will work or need a second opinion, feel free to email your photo to us (support@furcle.io) and we'll let you know. We understand in some cases it's not always possible to follow all of the guidelines. In many cases, our talented artists can still make it happen.
